Calm Hypnotherapy

FAQs
What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a modern psychotherapeutic approach that combines psychotherapy with hypnosis. It uses practical, structured, and well-researched strategies to help you make significant, positive changes in a relatively short period of time. The therapy focuses on what you want to achieve, focusing on solutions rather than past or current problems.
What talking therapies do you use?
I use a tailored combination of talking therapies, to find the best approach for you from:

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
The therapy focuses on the present and future, emphasising your strengths and solutions

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
This focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviour and helps you identify and change negative thought and behaviour patterns.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Practical techniques to help you enhance confidence, reframe situations and encourage positive change to your thoughts and behaviour.

Mindfulness
This is about focusing on the present rather than the past or future. It can help you to cope with stress, reduce overwhelm and anxiety and manage health concerns such as chronic pain and fatigue.

What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is a very relaxing experience. It is similar to daydreaming and it feels very natural and enjoyable. The hypnosis is done very simply through relaxation and visualisation. Although you are relaxed your mind is alert and you are completely in control at all times.

At your Initial Consultation you will receive a hypnotherapy MP3 so you can try it at home before you come for your first session.

Will I need to talk about anything that I don't want to?
There is no need to revisit trauma or painful memories. Rather than dwelling on the past, the focus is on helping you move forward and create a positive future.
How many sessions will I need?
Sometimes change happens quite quickly, for others it may be longer. Most clients see positive changes in 6-12 sessions, fears and phobias may be as little as 4 sessions. It varies for each person and the reason for coming. You can chooses how many sessions you have and how often. I also provide long term support which many people find helpful.
Do you work with children?
Yes, children and teenagers respond very well to hypnotherapy. I work with children over the age of 8 and have had additional training in working with children and young adults. the sessions may be shorter depending on the child and for younger children parents and care givers are invited to attend an Initial Consultation to find out more.
